Summary
March 2nd, 2019: Our second regional tournament is in the books – and there are many things for GBHS to be proud of this year! Firstly, we expanded to two teams this year due to the amount of interested individuals. Team A made it into the top 5 of two events, and we had 17 placements from Teams A and B in the top 15 of multiple events. Overall, Team A and B gave solid performances, placing 15th and 20th out of 34 teams.
Individual Recognition
- Senior Julie Lynch and freshman Dhruv Gupta placed third in Sounds of Music. They constructed a row of Coke bottles with varying amounts of water so when each of them was blown, they produced a different note. Great job, Julie and Dhruv!
- Julie and junior Feras Elsherif placed fourth in Chemistry Lab. They had to demonstrate their mastery of the basics of chemistry through lab procedures in just fifty minutes – and any chemistry student knows that’s no easy feat. Congratulations Julie and Feras!
Closing Remarks
This year was definitely an improvement from the previous year. Even though the current officers will be in college by the next season, they sincerely hope the team will grow even bigger and stronger under the new leadership effective in May.
Who are we? GB SciOLy! GRIZZLIES!!! Stay with us, because the year isn’t over yet.
